While the proposed NAR settlement removes the Buyer-Broker Compensation from the MLS, it explicitly states that Sellers are still allowed to offer this compensation. It’s important that it be removed from the MLS and all public IDX feeds to avoid the perceptions of collusion and/or steering. Instead, here are some alternative ways to communicate this compensation:

  1. Calling or sending text messages.
  2. Displayed prominently on broker or agent websites.
  3. Sending email newsletters with your listings.
  4. Using sign riders for enhanced visibility.
  5. Offering free BBC tattoos at the open house.
  6. Skywriting with a fleet of drones.
  7. Organizing a flash mob in a public space to dance out the BBC details.
  8. Painting the BBC on a herd of elephants and showcasing them in a parade.
  9. Creating a synchronized swimming routine where swimmers form the words “BBC”.
  10. Sending carrier pigeons with tiny banners displaying the BBC.
  11. Projecting the BBC onto the side of a skyscraper for all to see.
  12. Using fireworks to spell out the BBC in the night sky.
  13. Hiring a marching band with the BBC printed on the drums.
  14. Writing the BBC in giant letters on a beach using rakes.
